Thanksgiving Table Setting

I love making my table look special for the holidays. This year for Thanksgiving I wanted to include a cute favor that my guests could take home with them and came up with the paper pumpkins.

What you will need:
• 1 Sheet of 12x12 cardstock or patterned paper (whatever color you want your pumpkin to be)
• Scallop circle punch or die cut (I used the Marvy purple punch)
• Bind It All wire (I used 5/8”)
• Small piece of green paper (cardstock or patterned) to make the stem and leaves.

Step 1:
Cut out as many scallop circles as you can from your paper. I ended up getting 14 from my 12x12 piece of cardstock.

Step 2:
Fold scallop circles in half. If you are using cardstock it doesn’t matter which way it is folded if you are using patterned paper the side you want showing should be the inside of the fold.

Step 3:
Punch the holes with your Bind It All machine. Put the folded end in the machine and line up one of the scallops sticking out with the centre line and punch. There will be 2 scallops sticking out the farthest just use the same one each time you punch. One side will end up being punched off the paper but that’s ok.

Step 4:
Cut the end that the punch is coming off the paper. I cut up to the next scallop on each one as that gives it a good base to stand up on. Try and cut each piece in the same place.

Step 5:
Put all your pieces in the same direction and bind it using the Bind It All.

Step 6:
Glue the separate pieces together, don’t glue the fold’s together just the separate pieces this makes it sit open nicely. You don’t have to do this step if you are using cardstock as it’s all the same color but it will spread out nicer if you do it.

Step 7:
Roll a piece of green paper and slide it in the centre opening of the pumpkin for the stem. You can also cut out a leaf shape and add it.

Have fun and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Boo-it-All

I can't remember the last time Halloween fell on a Saturday.  All I know is that this year there seems to be so much more excitement for Trick or Treating and general costume fun!  Not only will we not be tired from going to school during the day, but we can sleep in on Sunday (and gain an hour with the time change for daylight savings).  It's a recipe for late night shenanigans.  My girls are dressing up as a '20's flapper and a Pumpkin Princess.  Me?  I think I am going to go to answer the door as a hockey player - black eye and missing teeth (maybe wield a hockey stick too - who knows).

The Zutter Zisters Design Team will have their November project galleries up in a few days, but here, along with projects from the OZZ Design Team, are some spookacular projects to get you screaming for your Bind-it-All!  Check all the galleries in a few days to see materials lists and other design team inspiration.

Have a howlin' great weekend!

Bind-it-All....a Jewelry Maker?

Greetings! With the holidays fast approaching and gift-giving on our minds, what about creating something amazing using just Zutter Owires? Today, we'll have some fun making bracelets out of the owires which are oh, so versatile =)

First, grab some of these materials which you will need:

  • Your Bind-It-All
  • 1 length of Owire (your choice of diameter, but 1/2" or 3/8" are most dainty!)
  • A pair of pliers
  • 16-20 beads (based on wrist size)
  • 16-20 Jump rings (3 rings per charm/sequin)
  • Sequins, Charms, Ribbons
Okie, armed with your yummy coffee, let's start!

Step 1. Coil the owire round your wrist to get an estimate of the length of wire needed for this gift. Add an extra wire round to your estimate. Cut off the excess wire.

Step 2. Using a pair of pliers, squeeze the prongs of each wire round together. Be careful there not to squeeze too tightly, or else the wires might snap in two...

Step 3. On the other end of the wire, we're going to create a hook. As in Step 2, squeeze the prongs together. Coil the small piece of wire that is protruding on the main round. We do this to make it safe for the recepient of the gift to wear.

Step 4. Now for the fun part. Using your pliers, straighten each round of wire slightly to attach the bead through the wire. This is especially needed if the bead you use is bigger in size.
Step 5. Once the bead is in place, bend the wire in position. A little coil will suffice, as we'll use the Bind-It-All to coil the wires once all the beads are attached.

Step 6. With all your beads in place, put the bracelet through the Bind-It-All to bind the owire. Make sure you do not over tighten the hook at the end of the bracelet.

Step 7. Embellish as much or as little as you wish. You could tie ribbons, affix charms or sequins onto your bracelet using jump rings. I used 3 jump rings per charm/sequin, so that they will dangle as I wear the bracelet.

Step 8: Ta-dah! A personalized gift you made with your handy-dandy Bind-It-All! Enjoy!

Bet you didn't know your Bind-it-All was a jewelry maker too?!?!?!

Have fun!
